Lecture: Jan Willem Drijvers, Cornelis de Bruijn (1652-1727) and the Rediscovery of Persepolis May 4, 2010 (18:00)

Abstract: The
travel books of Cornelis de Bruijn, one of the most important travelers
of the Dutch Golden Age, constituted important contributions to
European scholarly knowledge about the Orient, Russia and the Far East.
In particular the many drawings in De Bruijn’s travel accounts are of
high quality value and great importance. The focus in this talk will be
on De Bruijn’s description in words and pictures of the ancient palace
complex of Persepolis, and the scholarly debate it aroused.
odak noktasını De Bruijn’in Persepolis’deki antik saray kompleksini
