The NIT Library

The Institute has a specialized library of about 15,000 books and 9,000 journal volumes. The main subject areas of the library are: 
- Archaeology and Architectural History of Anatolia, the Near East and the Balkans. Subject categories include excavation reports, architecture, art, material science studies, environmental fields and geoarchaeology. There is an emphasis on prehistory, but all periods but all eras to the end of the Ottoman Period are represented.
- History and Philology of Anatolia and the Ancient Near East
- Art History and History of the Low Countries and Europe

After a reorganization during the summer of 2008, the library is now open again for researchers and students.

Opening hours
The library is open for researchers and students during the following hours:
Monday through Friday, 10:00-13:00 and 14:00-17:00
Researchers staying at the institute have 24-hour access.

Online catalogue
A major part of the collections can now also be searched online (test version). This includes the sections on archaeology, architectural and urban history, ancient languages and philology. Significant collections that are not yet available online include: Ottoman history, art history as well as most periodicals. The remainder of the catalogue will be made available online as it is digitized.
