Literary Evening: Voices from the Beyond. An Evening of Turkish and Dutch Poetry
May 3, 2010 (18:30)

Literaryevening

A unique poetry event in which Turkish poets Roni Margulies and Gonca Özmen will collaborate with Dutch poets Anneke Claus and Jan Glas. The evening will be moderated by literary theorist Sjoerd-Jeroen Moenandar (Groningen University).

All poets will read from their own poetry in their own languages (Turkish, Dutch and Low Saxon) with English translations projected behind them. There will be opportunities for the audience to interact with the poets. At the end of the evening, there will be a short debate with all three poets on the specific cultural roles of poetry in our societies.

The evening is organized by The Netherlands Institute in Turkey (NIT), the students organization of the Arts, Culture & Media department of Groningen University and the Groningen city council.
