RMO-NIT Fellowship 2019; deadline June 7

7 Jun 00:00 - 00:00

Fellowship for museum-related research

The National Museum of Antiquities (RMO) and the Netherlands Institute in Turkey (NIT) offer a fellowship for a research stay of two months at the NIT in Istanbul. Graduate students and recent graduates (MA and PhD) of universities in the Netherlands are eligible to apply.

The NIT provides housing in comfortable guest room with private bathroom for a period of eight weeks. The RMO offers the fellow a contribution towards living expenses of 2000 euro plus 500 euro for travel expenses between Holland and Turkey.

The project that will be conducted while at the NIT should consist of critical collection-based research. Applications will be judged on the academic and societal relevance of the research, as well as its value for archaeological, historical or ethnographic museums and collections.

In a case where the project involves access to museum depots and archives, it is the responsibility of the applicant to obtain permissions. In Turkey this generally involves application procedures that can take several months to complete. The NIT can play an advisory role.

During the research stay, the selected candidate will present a lecture or seminar at the NIT and will submit a report on the conducted activities following the stay.
