Another successful season of excavations at Barcın Höyük concluded

On September 4, the 2015 season of the Barcın Höyük Excavations came to a close.

The results of this final season were beyond expectations, providing completely new evidence for the architecture, settlement layout and material culture of the oldest occupation levels.
Having excavated the lowest occupation levels and reaching virgin soil in many parts, this season also concluded the fieldwork stage of the research project. Analysis, interpretation and synthesis are ongoing and will continue in the next few years.
The 2015 season was made possible by a grant awarded to the project by the National Geographic Society.
