Aysel completed her BA in Translation and Interpretation Studies at Boğaziçi University and her MA and PhD in Archaeology and History of Art at Koç University. Her research area includes Anatolian archaeology with a focus on the Neolithic and Chalcolithic periods, craft specialization, communities of practice, and paleodermatoglyphics. She has participated in various fieldwork projects in Turkey as a team member and a clay finds specialist since 2010.
